Low carbon ferro chrome (LC Fe Cr) is an iron-chromium alloy in which the carbon content is deliberately kept at a much lower level than in standard ferro chrome grades. It is obtained by reducing chromite ore under carefully controlled conditions that restrict the amount of carbon entering the final product.
Low Carbon Ferro Chrome (LC Fe Cr) is an iron-chromium alloy with a deliberately reduced carbon content, designed specifically for use as a low-carbon chromium source additive in the production of stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, and heat-resistant steel.

Chromium significantly improves the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of steel by forming a dense oxide film on the surface that protects the internal metal. However, carbon markedly diminishes these beneficial effects of chromium, which is why stainless and heat-resistant steels have strict requirements for the carbon content of the ferro chrome added. The essence of low carbon ferro chrome production is not “removing carbon” but rather minimizing carbon introduction through careful raw material selection and controlled smelting processes.
